GCSE Pupils Excel

22nd Aug 2025

Down High welcomed their GCSE pupils to the new build on the Strangford Road on Thursday to congratulate them on their excellent GCSE results. Building on the very strong A-Level results from the previous week, the school was delighted that the pupils were able to receive the due rewards for all their dedication throughout the course of their studies. Impressively, 22 pupils achieved 10 A/A* grades, 36 pupils achieved at least 9 A/A* grades, with over half of all grades being A or A* (50.7%). Yet again, all students passed their English and Mathematics, and all students gained at least 5 GCSEs. A total of 97.6% of pupils attained 7 A*-C grades. Grace Bradshaw, Thomas Chambers, Dawn Erwin, Niamh Lowry, Scott Macleod and Jessica Owen all achieved 9 A*s, and Joy Daniells attained 10 A*s.

Principal, Mrs. Maud Perry, commented on the results: ‘I am incredibly proud of our pupils for their hard work and dedication, which is reflected in these outstanding results. Their achievements are a testament to their resilience and commitment. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to our dedicated staff for the unwavering support and guidance they provide to our pupils, to our parents for their partnership with the school, and to our Board of Governors for their invaluable support. These results are a true community effort.’
