For Primary Pupils
Welcome to Down High School’s website. You may be thinking of coming here next year or the year after, so we thought you might like to learn a little about the school.
There are over 900 pupils at Down High and around seventy teachers. We think that the school is friendly and that you will settle in quickly.
Our day starts at five minutes to nine o’ clock and ends at 3.20pm.
Below are some of the subjects that you will study at Down High in the first few years. When you get older you can study a range of new subjects as well.

When you come to Down High you will join one of five form classes. Each class is attached to one of the Houses:
- Down
- Lecale
- Rathkeltair
- Mourne
- Strangford
Your form teacher will look after you and help you to settle into your new school.
You will meet lots of new friends and have the opportunity to take part in a range of clubs and societies such as:

SPORT
Boys will play rugby and cricket. Girls will have the opportunities to play hockey and netball.
In October Year 8 pupils and form teachers go to the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum at Cultra for a two-night residential. This is always great fun. You can see some pictures of the Cultra trip in the Field Trips section of the website.
