Equestrian Team Make Super Start to the Season

7th Oct 2020

On Saturday 26th September members of Down High Equestrian team travelled to The Meadows to compete in the popular inter-school show jumping competition. It was a poignant day for the riders as each one wore a red ribbon in fond memory of their friend and team mate Ellie McDonnell.
In the Open team event, all of the Down High riders jumped a double clear round to go into first place. As the team captain, Abby Cummiskey led Zara Sharvin, Tara Emmet and Rachael Broome into the arena to collect their rosettes, she remarked ‘Ellie would have been very proud’. Zara Sharvin later went on to win the 1.10 metre individual class and Emily Steele, also from Down High, came second. The Down High team hope to build on their success from last year when they qualified for the prestigious Balmoral Show but didn’t have the opportunity to compete.
