Cross Country Champions

Down High Athletes had an outstanding day of performances at the Irish Schools’ Cross-Country Championships on Saturday at Mallusk, securing three gold medals in the process. 11 pupils from the school qualified through to this event on the back of strong performances at the District Championships and Ulster Championships. Year 12 student, Lucy Foster, racing in the Intermediate girls’ race was crowned Irish Champion as she arrived home first in a time of 12.37. Year 13 student, Rebecca Rossiter then took gold in the Senior girls’ race in a time of 11.54. Rebecca’s performance, along with those of Kirsti Foster, Catherine Martin and Isabelle Perry also saw the Senior Girls’ team pick up gold in the team event. In the Minor boys' race, Alex Robinson was 12th, while Jodi Foster came 8th in the Junior girls' race. On the back of these performances, Jodi and Lucy Foster will now represent the Irish Schools’ Cross Country team at the SIAB Championships in Wales.
