SWIMMINGThe achievements of two of our students in the pool are worth celebrating. Amy Dornan (pictured left), a Year 9 pupil, has been accumulating trophies and medals for her superb performances in both the butterfly and freestyle categories at her age level. She was an Ulster Schools Champion in 2007.
Hannah Clarke (pictured right) is due to leave Down High in 2009, but her lasting contribution is one that will always be remembered. Hannah won a place in the Irish Squad for the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, where she competed in the breaststroke competition, cutting twelve seconds off her personal best time in the process. Her dedication to her sport led to Hannah’s well-deserved nomination as the recipient of the Hastings Cup, school’s most prestigious trophy, for 2008.
