Heartstart

12th May 2017

Heartstart is a British Heart Foundation (BHF) initiative designed to teach the public what to do in a life-threatening emergency. Working in partnership with a wide range of agencies, the BHF aims to save lives by providing opportunities for the pupils to learn Emergency Life Support (ELS) skills. The aim of the programme is to train as many of the children as possible in emergency lifesaving skills, and to raise the standard of resuscitation.
Recently, forty Year 13 pupils successfully completed the course as part of their Enrichment Programme. Since Heartstart was introduced in Down High School in 2013, a total of 278 pupils and 10 members of the non-teaching staff have been trained in this important area.
