My first day at Down High was made easier because it is always a Year 8 only day before the other pupils come back. I used break time to try to make new friends. The first day is a half-day and you really just meet some teachers, find out new subjects and get your timetable.
I found out that you study a lot more subjects at Down High than I originally thought. I enjoy most subjects but some of my favourites are Games, where you play rugby or cricket, depending on the season, and Technology where you build different things out of wood and plastic.
There are lots of after-school activities like rugby, cricket, scripture union and hockey. There are also activities in school like Chemistry Club.
My favourite moments so far in Down High would include the trip to Cultra at the start of the year. This lets everyone get to know each other better. We stayed overnight in dorms for two and a half days. I also enjoy going on rugby trips when I'm chosen for the team. We have gone on a few school trips like to Carrickfergus Castle which was fun. Down High is a great school and I am happy that I came.
