Hi everyone!
My name is Jenny Kerr and I am in 8L. I am really glad that I am in Lecale house, because I am in the same class as my best friend from my primary school in Spa, Ballynahinch.
On my first day at Down High, I was very nervous, because I thought I would get lost, or not make any friends. Also, I was amazed at the size of the school - it is a lot bigger than my primary school. But because Down High is such a friendly school, I made friends really quickly! Also, it didn’t take long to learn the way around!
At the moment, I am not involved in any after-school clubs. I am thinking of joining the Scripture Union group, as my friends say it is very good. There are lots of other clubs to take part in, like Hockey, Badminton, Junior Debating Society and lots more.
The best thing that has happened in Year 8 so far was the trip to Cultra. We did lots of fun activities like the climbing cube, archery, nature trails, a Victorian day, barn dance, a talent show and loads more!
At the moment, I study around 15 subjects. These include Home Economics, Drama, Music, P.E., ICT, as well as all of the normal subjects like Maths, English and Science. We have 10 periods a day, each lasting half an hour. Sometimes we have a double period, lasting around an hour. We do lots of fun projects in some subjects.
