My first day at Down High was definitely a good one. That feeling of nervousness that you have on your first day at school was quickly extinguished as I walked into the first classroom. I was surprised by the range of subjects that we were given the opportunity to study. New friends were made quickly as we walked around the classroom. At break-time and lunch-time I had the opportunity to meet more people from other houses. I now have a wide variety of friends from different houses.
There is a wide range of after-school activities that you can join. If you like sport, there is rugby practice for the boys and hockey practice for the girls. If you want some adventure, you can join the army cadets and if you just want to socialise and learn about God, Scripture Union can give you that opportunity. Even if you have a musical side you can join the concert band or orchestra. These are only a few of the after-school activities.
One of the highlights of Year 8 is the Cultra trip. This is a great opportunity for everyone to socialise and meet new people. Another good thing is Mr Doey, my form teacher. He is a great laugh. Year 8 at Down High has been great so far!
