Aims
- To give pupils an opportunity to develop creatively, intellectually, emotionally and imaginatively through drama.
- To encourage pupils to work thematically as an individual or as part of a team/group.
- To contribute to the whole school through internal and external activities.
- To provide a fun and enjoyable way for pupils to learn.
Key Stage 3
Year 8 – Drama forms, methods and strategies though practical, fun-filled activities and performances.
Year 9 – Consolidate, experiment and refine drama forms through an exploration of the theme of ‘myths and legends’.
Year 10 – Senipted performances from set texts, improvisation and devising skills to create, perform and appraise drama.
Key Stage 4
Years 11 and 12 – CCEA Syllabus for GCSE
Advanced Level
Year 13 – AQA Theatre Studies Syllabus AS Level
Year 14 – AQA Theatre Studies Syllabus A2 Level
Facilities & Resources
The school boasts a brand new Drama Studio, kitted with the latest range of stage lighting, an ‘Audio-Technica’ sound system with ICT technology to project scenery. The Assembly Hall has also benefited from a recent ‘face lift’ and upgrade with new ‘front of house’ curtains, an extensive new sound system and digital stage lighting. This combination affords the school, and those studying drama, an ideal backdrop to showcase the wealth of talent that exists and flourishes among our pupils. With two drama studios and a main Auditorium our ‘world is a stage’!
