The Current Affairs Society exposes students to the cut and thrust of public life and political debate. Politicians and public figures will be invited to the school to give a short talk followed by a Question and Answer session that allows pupils to put elected politicians and other well-known individuals in positions of leadership under the spotlight.
We have been delighted to welcome a range of important guests in recent times – Former Secretary of State Paul Murphy MP, Sir Hugh Orde, Lord Trimble, Eddie McGrady MP, Education Minister Caitriona Ruane, Father Aidan Troy, Robert McCartney and Malachi O’Doherty (among others) have all kindly accepted invitations.
The Current Affairs Society is an excellent opportunity for pupils to develop their powers of analysis and communication and is open to students in Years 11-14.
